Oh, South Korea.
I'm an ESL teacher in South Korea. These are things which I hear and see.

Usually I just post things my Korean students say. But this fun little conversation came from a 4 year old that I teach at my church.
A:Did you know, every girl has to have a baby. Are you going to have a baby?
P:After I get married, yes.
A:You’re going to get married and have a baby?
P:Eventually.
A:With a man?
Aaaand, here’s where the story ends. Because I’m not telling some 4 year old why it’s necessary to have a woman and a man in order to create a baby.

When talking to a student about future goals, this was her response to what she wanted to study in university.
“I want to teach the little peoples.”
Many times, my students are freaking adorable with their lack of English knowledge.

I’ve been teaching my students “I just need somebody to love.” by Justin Bieber. Today somehow it turned into “Ajoshi somebody to love.” New words to sing forever? Most definitely.

As I was walking home the other day, just half a block from the school, I heard someone running behind me. Then he stopped running once he caught up, and I turned to see a kid from my school. No big deal, they do that all the time. I stopped at a little mart on the way home, and when I got out, he was just slightly ahead of me, when he should have kept walking. So I just walked slow, cause sometimes it’s just annoying. I’m off of work, I don’t want to be followed by my students.
Anyway, turns out that he lives in my apartment complex and when I see he’s about to get on the same elevator I would take, I take the other one. Only because I’d rather the students not know where I live. I figured it was all done. Until I left to go back downstairs to pick up a package. He was in the elevator when I got on it.
Seriously, what the heck, kid? I know it’s probs a coincidence, but it was totally unexpected. -
Got back to my locked classroom at lunch, and discovered that two students were impatient and didn’t want to wait for me (it was 12:25, they were supposed to be there by 12:30) so they decided to climb in through the window to get in the classroom instead of waiting for me to get back after eating lunch.

One of my kindergarten kids can’t properly pronounce “s”, but he’s really enthusiastic about English. So all during class, he was going. “Chun! The chun is yellow!”

Quote from one of my co-teachers: “You are strong and have a loud voice. I am afraid of you.” Bahaha.

Of course, when I was teaching body parts to my K-kids, one of them would point to his crotch and ask me how to say it in English.

While I was walking, a Korean man stopped his car, stuck his head out the window, and started sharing the Gospel with me. Drive-by-Jesus, anyone?
